TRAINING PROGRAMMES
The centre has developed training programmes for skill building & employability enhancement of both educated and uneducated blind girls coming to the centre. We constantly move ahead with the objective of enabling visually impaired women to gain employment and to take up higher education & to revive their career after a gap (due to the late onset of blindness).
Along with VI Girls, VI boys are also being enrolled for some specific training programmes.
The Centre is always busy enabling livelihood creation for the visually impaired (VI) women by empowering them with skills and training that help them lead a life of dignity and socio-economic independence.
CUSTOMISED AND NEED BASED TRAINING FOR BLIND WOMEN TO BE SELF RELIANT
Professional and technical skills empower the visually impaired to live a fulfilling and independent life
VOCATIONAL TRAINING

LIFE SKILL TRAINING

Mobility

Sports and Self defense

Home Science

House Keeping

Social Mannerism

Assistive Devices
Alongside the vocational training, it is very important that the women develop skills to manage their daily life living.
This is because in both urban and rural areas, blind women have not been thought of and therefore not equipped to be independent.
In rural India, blind children, especially girls and women are confined to just one room where they are provided food and helped with their daily chores, as the parents or care taker are clueless of how to train them.
While at the Centre they learn:
> Their core language braille which goes a long way in assisting them in the sighted world; e.g. using braille marking to identify things such as files, documents, containers, bottles etc.
> How to travel independently using public transport
> How to feed oneself by learning cooking. While every girl learns basic cooking, some specialise in advanced cooking.
> How to handle their homes independently
> Getting ready for work or events or just being groomed enough to be presentable at all time.
> Basic communication and eating etiquette
> How to protect oneself through self defense
> Healthy and hygienic habits with the help of several workshops on usage of toilet, handling self during menstruation, reproductive health management and many more.
