MY FAMILY DID NOT UNDERSTAND MY STRONG INCLINATION FOR STUDYING AND IT’S IMPORTANCE

Neetu Goyal was a low vision child since birth and managed studies with the help of spectacles till class 6th. Later on, she was operated upon that temporarily restored her vision and Neetu could study till class Xth. During class 10th her vision deteriorated again and everyone in the family focused on treatment and not education. For the next ten years she was at home doing nothing though she wanted to study. “My family did not understand my strong inclination for studying nor the importance of it since they felt if I did not have vision it was of no use”.

One of their relatives told them about NAB Rajasthan, from where Neetu took one month training in Braille and computers. Neetu, now started to make her family aware of what blind people could do. They found out about the NAB Centre for Women where she did all the trainings and specialized in computers. Later she was also sent for advanced computer skills to NAB R.K Puram for ten days and then was absorbed as a computer instructor for the Centre girls.
